Circular solutions for agriculture, food, and renewable energy

What Does Bion Do?

Bion recovers the ammonia-nitrogen and CO₂ released when biogas is produced from organic waste, like livestock manure, food waste, and food & beverage processing waste.  Bion transforms that pollution into sustainable, high-performance organic fertilizers and returns clean water. Our circular approach supports agriculture, food production, and the renewable fuels industries by upcycling nutrients, reducing emissions, and improving air, water, and soil health.

Downside of RNG: Managing Environmental Impact

Renewable Natural Gas

Producing biogas from organic waste — such as manure, food waste, and food and beverage processing waste — and upgrading it to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), also generates ammonia and carbon dioxide, that must be properly managed to avoid environmental harm.

Ammonia

A vital building block for fertilizers, but uncontrolled ammonia contributes to:

  • Air pollution (small particulate matter – PM2.5)
  • Harmful algae blooms in waterways
  • Groundwater contamination

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) is a greenhouse gas released during RNG production, that contributes to climate change.

  • CO₂ can be captured and repurposed to reduce carbon footprint.
  • Bion’s patented process combines CO₂ with recovered ammonia to create stabilized, high-value organic fertilizers.

Bion's Advanced Ammonia Recovery Technology

Bion’s patented Ammonia Recovery System (ARS) is a breakthrough technology designed to capture, stabilize, and upcycle over 90% of ammonia released during Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) production. Without intervention, this ammonia would escape into the environment, contributing to air and water pollution in the surrounding areas and ecosystems.

With Bion’s ARS, this pollution is captured, recovered, and transformed into a high-performance organic nitrogen fertilizer and clean water, creating a win-win solution for sustainable agriculture, renewable fuels production, and environmental protection.

The system:

  • Isolates and stabilizes ammonia, preventing its escape into the air and waterways
  • Combines ammonia with CO₂ from the waste stream, reducing emissions
  • Upcycles both into premium organic nitrogen fertilizers, delivering immediate and long-term benefits to soil health and crop productivity

Bion’s innovative technology not only prevents pollution, it also enhances farm efficiency by producing high-value fertilizers that can be transported, stored, and precision-applied exactly when and where they are needed. This circular approach to resource recovery supports a cleaner, more sustainable future for food production, renewable energy, and agriculture.

Bion’s Sustainability & Verified Impact

About Bion: Leading the Future of Sustainable Agriculture

Bion Environmental Technologies (OTC QB: BNET) delivers economic and environmental sustainability through advanced waste treatment and resource recovery solutions.

Core Innovations:

  • Ammonia Recovery System (ARS) – Capturing & upcycling ammonia and CO2 from waste
  • Gen3Tech Platform – Integrating clean energy, organic fertilizer production, and clean water recovery
  • Circular Agriculture Solutions – Improving farm efficiency while reducing environmental impacts

Bion just makes sense for an industry facing increasing scrutiny from regulators, investors, and sustainability-conscious consumers.

Sustainable Intensification: Feeding the Future

The Ammonia Recovery System is the foundation of our Gen3Tech platform, which has evolved over 30 years to provide comprehensive environmental treatment and resource recovery for large-scale livestock production. With the world’s population expected to grow to nearly 10 billion by 2050, the agricultural industry must embrace Sustainable Intensification — maximizing efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.

The key to that future is true sustainability, and Bion’s ARS and Gen3Tech platform provide a proven solution to meet the growing demand for food, clean water, and responsible resource management.

The Challenge: Livestock Waste & Renewable Energy

Cattle, CAFOs, and Environmental Impact

  • Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), like cattle feedlots and big dairies, supply most of the U.S. livestock production, but manure runoff and emissions pose environmental challenges.
  • Many dairy farms have adopted anaerobic digesters to capture methane and produce RNG, but this also releases ammonia, intensifying water and air pollution concerns.

Bion’s Solution: Turning Waste into Value

  • We redirect that ammonia to where it is needed, which dramatically reduces the environmental impacts of livestock and RNG production.
  • By upcycling ‘waste’ into high-value fertilizers and clean energy, we create a win-win for farmers, consumers, and the planet.
